Nope! We don’t have a formal membership program (that means no fees, no applications!). Walks don’t require registration, just show up! Select events with capacity limits may require registration, but you can see those details the week of on our Instagram and Discord server.

Can I come alone?

YES! Many of our members come alone at first and leave with new friends. Check out our "Member Monday" posts on Instagram for proof! If you are hesitant about coming solo, feel free to bring a friend or plan a smaller group meet-up on Discord!

Does this cost money?

Nope! We don’t charge membership fees, and all of our walks and happy hours are free to join. We do host special ticketed events that are completely optional.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes! Well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks and remain leashed. Some walks may end at a location that does not allow pets inside.

Attendees range from 18 to 60+, but the average age is 22-35. CGWWDC welcomes women of all ages! Check out our sub-groups on Discord for more.

Inclusivity Statement

City Girls Who Walk DC is a social club for all those who identify as a “City Girl” to feel empowered and comfortable amongst their peers in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. The mission of our group is to provide a platform for the women of the DMV to connect and form friendships, discover new and exciting things by exploring the DMV, and focus on inclusion and accessibility for all.

The benefit of making this a “girls’” group is that we can help members feel comfortable in a new environment while trying to make friends. Many members attend their first walk alone, and we want to ensure that we are continuing to foster a safe and empowering space for those who are joining the group for the first time. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave who is threatening the safety of or otherwise harassing any members of the group from both our online and physical spaces.

Please understand that this group was not created to sideline any gender identity, but rather to allow our members to experience a personal and comfortable space to nourish their female relationships. We hold quarterly all-gender walks and encourage male-identifying or otherwise non-female-identifying members to join those activities when possible. We will make it explicitly clear when these events are open to everyone. We firmly believe that all genders should work as allies for equality in all domains.
